The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players.

The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at Great River Golf Club in Milford, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19 who have not entered their first year of college. Our goal is to provide the same first class championship experience and red-carpet treatment that the best national events around the country offer.

Friday, July 6th- Application deadline (All applications must be received by this date), Tournament field announced and players notified of their acceptance status.

Open Qualifiers - TBA

Monday, August 6th- Official practice rounds, followed by Players Welcome Reception & Dinner

Tuesday, August 7th- First round tee times 7:00am - 1:00pm off the 1st tee

Wednesday, August 8th- Final round tee times 7:00am - 1200pm off the 1st tee (Leaders off last). Awards ceremony and trophy presentation immediately following play at approximately 5:00pm.

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th at Great River Golf Club. Starting times will be from 7:00am to 1:00pm both days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 5:30pm.

Divisions and Eligibility: There will be a Boys and Girls Championship Division, which is open to any male or female junior golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 8th, 2017. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA, and must not have entered their first year of college.

Entry Criteria and Field Size- The tournament field of 120 players will consist of 84 Boys and 36 Girls. Any player who meets the above eligibility requirements may apply to play in the 2018 Northern Junior.

Tournament Entry Fee- Entry Fee includes complimentary practice round, two rounds of tournament play, players lunch both tournament days, tournament towel, player gifts and invitation to Players Dinner on Monday, August 6th.

AJGA Performance Based Entry: The 2018 Boys Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top five (5) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top ten (10) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

The 2018 Girls Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top three (3) finishes in the Girls Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top five (5) finishers in the Girls Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.

Tournament Invitations: The 2018 Boys Champion and Runner-Up will receive invitations to the 2019 International Junior Masters, 2018 Bobby Chapman Junior and 2018 Joe Cheves Junior Invitational.

The 2018 Girls Champion and Runner-Up will receive an invitation to the 2018 Joe Cheves Junior Invitational. Additionally, the Boys and Girls Champion will receive invitations to the 2019 North & South Junior and 2019 Liberty National Junior Invitational.

The Top 3 finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship will earn invitations to the IMG Junior World Championship -Florida Challenge.

Prizes: Top finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship prizes in the form of merchandise credit redeemable at the Great River Golf Club Shop.
