The Tournament Committee has officially announced that the 11th Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior will be played July 24th – 25th, 2012 at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Connecticut. The 36-hole national junior golf tournament will be contested over two days of stroke play and will once again feature some of the best junior players in the country.

"In addition to offering some of the best playing conditions of any private facility in the Northeast, Ellington Ridge has numerous amenities that will help us to provide a PGA-Tour experience to the players and their families from the moment they arrive. Ellington Ridge Country Club is widely regarded as one of the best private courses in the state of Connecticut. The 18-hole championship golf course was designed by the noted golf architect, Geoffrey Cornish, in 1959 and has undergone numerous major improvements in the last 50 years. Practice areas include a top rated driving range, 2 practice putting greens and new sand and chipping practice area. Ellington Ridge has also played host to numerous prestigious events, including three Connecticut Open Championships, the 2008 Connecticut Amateur and the UCONN Connecticut Cup.

The Northern Junior is proud to have the best PBE (Performance Based Entry) Status of any independent junior event in New England. The 2012 Boys Champion will receive two (2) AJGA exemptions, and the top five (5) Boys will receive 1 AJGA exemption. The 2011 Girls Champion will receive one (1) AJGA exemption and the top three (3) Girls will receive 1 AJGA performance star. In addition, the Boys Champion will receive invitations to the 2012 Bobby Chapman Junior, the 2012 Joe Cheves Invitational, and the 2012 International Junior Masters. In addition, Girls Champion and Boys and Girls Runner-Up will also receive invitations to the 2012 Joe Cheves Junior Invitational.

The 2012 Schedule of Events will be as follows:

Monday, July 16th- Boys Championship Qualifier at Simsbury Farms Golf Course (10 spots available)
Monday, July 23rd- Official Practice Rounds followed by Players Dinner and Scholarship Presentation
Tuesday, July 24th- First round of stroke play competition (Tee times begin at 7:00am off the 1st tee)

Wednesday, July 25th- Final Round of stroke play competition (Tee times begin at 7:00am off the 1st tee, with leaders going off last at approx. 12:30pm)
Trophy Presentation- Approximately 5:00pm following the final round on the veranda adjacent to the clubhouse

The 2011 Northern Junior was the most successful tournament to date, attracting some of the nation's top junior players from ten different states, including players from California, Texas and South Carolina. In the Boys Championship, Nick Fairweather of Windham, New Hampshire, captured the Boys Championship by two shots over Andrew Gai of Westport, Connecticut, with a two round total of 8-under par (68-68–136), the lowest total in tournament history. In the Girls Championship, Nathalie Filler of Bloomfield, Connecticut cruised to her first Northern Junior title by six shots over Tina Chang of Mineola, New York, with a two round total of 1-under par (72-71–143). Both the 2011 Boys and Girls Champions will be eligible to defend their respective titles in 2012.

The Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior is an open national junior golf event conducted over 36 holes of stroke play that aims to bring the best players from New England and beyond to compete in a first-class event. Our goal is to provide a first-class championship experience to each and every player. The tournament was first formed in 2002 in memory of Stan Trojanowski, father of Cindy Paladino and Gary Trojanowski. This year’s event, the 11th annual, will be contested at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, Connecticut on July 24th – 25th, 2012.
