Tuesday & Wednesday, August 1st and 2nd (Practice Rounds Monday, July 31st)
New Haven Country Club, Hamden, Connecticut

The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players. The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at New Haven Country Club in Hamden, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19. Our goal is to provide the same first class championship experience and red-carpet treatment that the best national events around the country offer.

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, August 1st and Wednesday, August 2nd at New Haven Country Club. Starting times will be from approximately 7:00am to 1:00pm both days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 5:45pm.

Divisions and Eligibility: There will be a Boys and Girls Championship Division, which is open to any male or female junior golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 2nd, 2023. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA.

Tournament Entry Fee– Entry Fee of $275 includes complimentary practice round, two rounds of tournament play, players lunch both tournament days, player gifts and invitation to Players Dinner on Monday, July 31st.

Boys Champion: Eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars
Boys Top 5 Finishers: Four (4) AJGA Performance Stars
Boys Top 10 Finishers: One (1) AJGA Performance Star

Girls Champion: Eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars
Girls Top 3 Finishers: Four (4) AJGA Performance Star
Girls Top 5 Finishers: One (1) AJGA Performance Star

All players receiving AJGA performance stars from their finish in the tournament will have their status automatically updated by the AJGA within five business days.

Tournament Invitations

The International Junior Masters

The 2023 Boys Champion & Runner Up will receive an automatic invitation to the International Junior Masters, being contested in June, 2024 at East Aurora Country Club in East Aurora, New York.

The Southern Junior

The 2023 Boys Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 Southern Junior, being contested in June, 2024.

The Women’s Western Junior Championship

The 2023 Girls Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 Women’s Western Junior Championship, being contested in June, 2024.

Hudson Junior Invitational

The 2023 Boys Champion & Runner-Up will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 Hudson Junior Invitational, being contested in June, 2024 at Country Club of Hudson in Hudson, Ohio.

Northern Amateur

The 2023 Boys Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2024 Northern Amateur, played at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.

Hope Valley Junior Invitational

The Top 5 finishers in both the Boys and Girls Championship will earn invitations to the 2024 Hope Valley Junior Invitational at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, North Carolina.

Rankings
The 2023 Northern Junior Championship will be nationally ranked by both the Golfweek/Sagarin Ranking System and Junior Golf Scoreboard.

ELIGIBILITY: Entry is open to any male or female amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 2nd, 2023. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA.

Players may gain entry into the 2023 Northern Junior Championship by one of the following ways:

1) By Meeting Entry Criteria and Completing Tournament Application

The first 59 Boys and 29 Girls applying by Sunday, July 2nd who meet a category will be accepted. Should spots be available after July 2nd, selections will be made on a weekly basis to applicants meeting a criteria until the field is complete.

International players or players with an exceptional playing resume who do not meet the listed criteria may request an At-Large invitation by completing an application form.


2) By Earning Spot through Local Qualifier

Two separate 18-hole qualifying tournaments for the 2023 Northern Junior will be held. All applicants will be accepted on a strictly first-come, first-serve basis.
