The Northern Junior Championship is a nationally ranked junior golf tournament that was created in order to provide the highest level of competition for top junior players. The 36-hole stroke play event is contested over two days at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, Connecticut and is open to amateur boys and girls under the age of 19. Our goal is to provide the same first class championship experience and red-carpet treatment that the best national events around the country offer.
Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on Tuesday, August 4th and Wednesday, August 5th at Wethersfield Country Club. Starting times will begin at 7:00 a.m. both tournament days. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 5:00 p.m.
Field Size: The total field size for the Northern Junior Championship will be 84 total players, comprised of 54 players in the Boys Championship and 30 players in the Girls Championship.
Divisions and Eligibility: There will be a Boys and Girls Championship Division, which is open to any male or female junior golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 5th, 2026. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA.
Tournament Entry Fee– Entry Fee includes complimentary practice round, two rounds of tournament play, players lunch both tournament days, player gifts and invitation to Welcome Reception on Monday, August 3rd for a player plus one guest.

Official Practice Rounds (Complimentary for all participants)
8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Player Registration
Beginning at 9:30am – Practice Rounds
5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – Player Registration at upper level of clubhouse, before Welcome Reception
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. – Players Welcome Reception, Dinner and Ryan Lee Scholarship Presentation
6:45 p.m. – Long Drive Contest presented by Golf Performance Academy
Note: Late registration is available for players who will not be able to register on Monday, August 3. For the purposes of confirming their intent to play, players must notify the tournament office at tournament@northernjunior.com if they will not be able to register on Monday, August 3.

First Round of Stroke Play
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. – Starting Times (All play will be in threesomes)
Wednesday, August 5
Second Round of Stroke Play
Beginning at 7:00 a.m. – Starting Times (Players will be paired by score, with leaders going off last. All play will be in threesomes.)
5:00 p.m. – Awards Ceremony and Trophy Presentation

ELIGIBILITY: Entry is open to any male or female amateur golfer who has not reached their 19th birthday on or before August 5, 2026. All players must be an amateur golfer as defined by the USGA.
APPLICATION PROCESS: There is no fee to submit a Championship Application. The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, May 15. After the deadline, selections will be made via the below criteria and a waiting list will be established. Those players who are accepted to the field will have the option to accept or decline their spot, and will be required to pay the championship entry fee at that time to accept their place in the field.

Boys Champion: Twelve (12) AJGA Performance Stars
Boys Top 5 Finishers: Eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars
Boys Top 10 Finishers: Four (4) AJGA Performance Stars
Boys Top 15 Finishers: One (1) AJGA Performance Star
Girls Champion: Twelve (12) AJGA Performance Stars
Girls Top 3 Finishers: Eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars
Girls Top 5 Finishers: Four (4) AJGA Performance Stars
Girls Top 10 Finishers: One (1) AJGA Performance Star
All players receiving AJGA performance stars from their finish in the tournament will have their status automatically updated by the AJGA within five business days.

The International Junior Masters
The 2026 Boys & Girls Champion & Runner Up will receive an automatic invitation to the International Junior Masters, being contested in June, 2027 at East Aurora Country Club in East Aurora, New York.
The Southern Junior
The 2026 Boys Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2027 Southern Junior, being contested in June, 2027
The Women’s Western Junior Championship
The 2026 Girls Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2027 Women’s Western Junior Championship, being contested in June, 2027.
Hudson Junior Invitational
The 2026 Boys Champion & Runner-Up will receive an automatic invitation to the 2027 Hudson Junior Invitational, being contested in June, 2027 at Country Club of Hudson in Hudson, Ohio.
Northern Amateur
The 2026 Boys Champion will receive an automatic invitation to the 2027 Northern Amateur, played at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.
Hope Valley Junior Invitational
The Top 5 finishers in both the Boys and Girls Championship will earn invitations to the 2027 Hope Valley Junior Invitational at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, North Carolina.
Rankings
The 2026 Northern Junior Championship will be nationally ranked by both Junior Golf Scoreboard and the Junior Golf Hub Rankings.
